The Farm

Our mission is to humanely produce the highest quality meat by using best pasture rotation practices to ensure a healthy, hormone and antibiotic free, grass-fed and grain-finished beef for our family and our customers. As stewards of our small family farm located in Sebastopol, we take pride in providing a stress-free environment for our beef to freely graze in our irrigated, natural pastures.

As a family, we have always been involved with raising farm animals. Growing up on working ranches in Central California and Oregon, we raised beef, pigs, sheep, dairy and chickens. It's important that our children and grandchildren continue to learn to appreciate and value farm animals and care for them in a humane and responsible way.

Our Beef

Our beef is seasonal. We handpick our steers from respected local breeders who have the highest quality animals, and they are delivered to our farm in early spring so they can take full advantage of the spring and summer grass growth. They graze on irrigated pastures over the next few months, and we supplement their grass with organic grain for finishing during the last two months before harvesting.

Harvest occurs usually as grass growth begins to slow, and the beef reach their optimal natural weight gain. Our beef is ready for customers from September through December. Perfect for Carnivore, Keto and Low-carb eating!

When You Buy

How is our Beef Priced?
Our beef is priced by each animal's hanging weight. For example, a 1200 lb. live weight steer will have a hanging weight of approximately 780 lbs. Of that hanging weight, the customer will get approximately 507 lbs. of meat, cut and wrapped. Customer may request bones at no additional cost.

The price includes cutting and double paper wrapping by the butcher. Vacuumed seal is an extra charge and the customer will pay the difference directly to the butcher. We have a limited number of beef to sell annually.

I'm a chef, and I exclusively use beef from this supplier in my restaurant. The marbling and flavor of their grass-fed beef elevate my dishes, and my customers can't get enough of it.

Not only is getting the job done important but standing by the work is too. We had No.2 replace our septic field last summer and we noticed an issue after a few months. They came out and corrected the problem without hesitation. Would I have preferred it done correctly the first time? Sure, but it's good to know they stand by their work.

FAQ

What does grass fed and grain-finished mean?

Grass-fed beef graze on pasture their entire lives. Grain-finished means that 2 months prior to butchering, the beef receive a supplemented source of calories (rolled corn, rolled barley, soybean meal, cane molasses) in addition to pasture grass and forage. Grass-fed and grain-finished beef is juicier, more tender, and well-marbled with a flavor that is sweeter and more desirable than commercially-raised beef, the primary diet of which is corn and by-products.

Is your beef raised with hormones or antibiotics?

No. You have the reassurance of knowing that we are serious about raising beef on natural grass and forage in a stress-free environment.

Why does it matter if beef is aged?

When beef is aged, it allows the natural biochemical and enzymatic processes to develop the rich flavor and ultimate tenderness desired.

How long is the aging process?

Our beef is generally aged at least 14 days.

What quantities of beef do you sell?

We sell our beef in either the whole / full or a side.
